Darv trained in addiction medicine and serves as an addictionologist. He founded Whole Person Health Center, an addiction rehab program in Boulder, Colorado, and directed it for 10 years.
Carol trained in education at USC and retrained in counseling, earning an MA along with training in the addiction field. Together they created the Addictive Behavior School in YWAM, which has been running since 1989 in many nations all over the world.
More About Darv and Carol →Linda Subris, from the island of Palau, has served in the addiction field in both programs and training since her Addictive Behavior Counseling school in 1990. She holds an MA in Addiction and Culture from the University of the Nations and is a Certified Substance Abuse Counselor in the State of Hawaii.
As a member of the College of Whole Person Care and Development committee in the UofN, she gives oversight to the ABC schools internationally. She presently serves as president of the ABMI Board.
Amy is an entrepreneurial leader and problem solver who combines strategic vision with decisive, tactical action. She brings over 35 years of executive experience across multiple businesses and nonprofit organizations, with expertise in operations, planning, and program development.
Amy has a unique ability to analyze key business drivers and develop strategies that impact partnership and expansion initiatives. Her specialties include strategic business planning, partnership negotiations, cross functional collaboration, revenue growth, community outreach, operations turnaround, policy development, personnel management, marketing and public relations, program management, budget administration, and asset management. She is a dedicated member of her community with contacts in countless civic and corporate organizations, and holds higher education degrees in Business Administration, Finance, and Psychology.
Scott grew up in Boulder, Colorado and attended medical school at the University of Colorado. As a Fulbright Scholar at Harvard he studied tropical public health in Cali, Colombia, researching improved diagnostics for leishmaniasis and river blindness.
He completed residency and fellowship at Stanford University in Medicine, then Infectious Disease and Geographic Medicine. Scott served as Chief of Infectious Disease and Geographic Medicine at Kaiser Redwood City for 25 years, taught at Stanford Medical School, and directed the Human Biology course Parasites and Pestilence for over 20 years, receiving the Bloomfield Award for excellence in the teaching of clinical medicine. He has appeared on The Doctors Show, Animal Planet, Discovery Channel, and National Geographic discussing unusual parasitic diseases. He is now focused on addiction medicine, keeping ABMI current on brain science, and how we grow into more spiritually whole people.
Brett has served on the board of ABMI since 2015. He attended and graduated from a YWAM discipleship training school in Wadi El Natrun, Egypt in 2008, and holds a BS degree from Western Oregon State College. Since college he has started, run, and sold a number of businesses, and continues to carry a heart for broken and lost people.
Jungmi is a Korean missionary serving in Mongolia since 1998, after completing ABC training in Chatel, Switzerland. She pioneered addiction recovery ministry in the country with a Minnesota model program for doctors and Celebrate Recovery for churches. She currently serves YWAM Mongolia as a national convener, training and mentoring leaders alongside missionary member care ministry.
Michael has worked in the mental health field for over 25 years, focused primarily on addiction, trauma, and dual diagnosis care. Before cofounding VL and DCC, he served hundreds of patients at CeDAR for over a decade, designing key clinical programming including the 30 day Primary Program, 60 day Extended Care Program, 71 day Professionals Program, and the Intimacy Disorder track.
Michael is an author, international trainer, and mentor for substance abuse counselors, and regularly presents at industry conferences across the United States. He earned a BA in education at Boston College and a Masters of Social Work at the University of Denver. He has been happily married to Jill for 20 years and is a father of two high school aged children. He loves outdoor adventure, travel, and spiritual development.
Akap Phom is from Nagaland in northeastern India. He joined Youth With A Mission in 2001 and, after completing his Discipleship Training School, went on to complete the ABC School in 2006. He has served as a certified addiction counselor and previously led the ABC School in India.
Akap holds a Master of Social Work in Counseling from IGNOU and is a certified John Maxwell Personal Development Coach. He currently lives in Hungary, where he and his wife lead the Mercy Ministry, serving homeless populations and individuals struggling with addiction. He also facilitates workshops on addiction, codependency, family systems, and trauma.
Joe is a proponent of counseling work and joined ABMI in 2022. He enjoys building partnerships and making connections to help others overcome life challenges. He also serves on the board of the New Life Community Services Drug and Alcohol Treatment Program in Santa Cruz, California, and is deeply invested in work involving mental health, 12 step programs, faith centered efforts, and other wellness initiatives.
